Our Beginning

8Gauge Consulting began when founder Jason Jones confirmed an interview with an exciting new software company in Auckland, New Zealand from his home in the San Francisco Bay Area. Chasing a childhood obsession with the country of New Zealand and deep desire to explore the culture while aligning with his career trajectory, Jason traveled to Auckland, landed a role as the first sales person in the US for a software start up company based there and helped them eventually get acquired by a publicly traded US based software company.

Jones went on from there to work for over a decade with several New Zealand based software companies and with the New Zealand Government (via the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise organization) to help with everything from funding rounds to operations (opening first offices, bank accounts, insurance, payroll) to GoToMarket activities (recruiting, sales, marketing and partnerships). Helping New Zealand based founders understand the US market, truly grasp the size and scope of the opportunity while building an efficient way to grow here and helping US based investors understand the incredible value kiwis bring to the technology sector has become an absolute passion.
